Allie's Impact

We just got a message on Facebook that one of my best friends parents are now getting a Boxer puppy because of the love and sheer joy that they saw Allie bring to our lives while she was with us.

That was the most heartwarming thing anyone has said to me since her passing.  The fact that she has made an impact on a family and shown them how awesome it is to have a Boxer is so wonderful.

Allie was and still is one of the greatest things that has ever happened to our family.  She loved her human pack and always wanted to be near us no matter where we were.

The week before she passed away, I had the stomach flu and layed in bed for 4 straight days with Allie.  Now, I'm thankful that we got that time to snuggle and just lay near each other.  Allie brought so much comfort to everyone of us.

Her favorite thing in the world was to come straight back inside in the mornings after doing her business and run into the bedroom to snuggle with her Daddy in bed.  She was wait by the bedside staring at him until he said, "Well, come on." Then she would jump up, go to my side of the bed and Mr. H was pull up the covers for her to get under and lay down.  Then she'd give him some morning kisses by licking his hand until falling to sleep.  She would lay in bed all morning tucked in until it was time for me to go to work.

I always loved coming over and giving her a few smooches every morning!

I think this might be the last picture taken of her while she was laying next to Small Fry asleep while he watched TV in my bedroom.  She just always wanted to be near her human, especially the boys.

She loved perching on the big chair in the living room where she could watch everyone in the living room.  She always knew where everyone was when she was laying in "her" chair with her favorite blankets.

We hope she's laying on a cloud watching down on us everyday now.

Allie - A Piece of Our Hearts Forever

06/04/2006 - 03/24/2011

Allie the Flowergirl

Last Thursday afternoon the boys came home from school and found our precious White Boxer Allie hiding in the corner of the yard and barely breathing.
She was stone cold and panting heavily, unable to move.
We rushed her to the animal hospital in Tulsa and she arrived with no heartbeat.  They performed CPR and got a heartbeat but she wasn't able to clot her blood due to the trauma.

Her stomach had turned over and she was dying of bloating.

No one could tell us why barrel chested dogs are prone to this, it just happens sometimes.  It's how Marley died in Marley & Me.

We had no other choice but to put her down.  She was bleeding out of her mouth and rectum and was on a respirator.  We didn't want her to suffer at all.

It was the saddest sight I've ever seen.  We spent several minutes saying our goodbyes, telling her we loved her more than anything and kissing her sweet jowls over and over.

The boys and I left the room and Mr. H stayed with her until the end, closing her eyes after she passed.

The fact that we weren't there for her when she needed us will always haunt me.  I feel like I let her down.

She was one of the most important things in the world to our family and she will never be forgotten. She was a member of our family and I know she knew that.

We had her cremated and have ordered a special walnut colored urn with her name engraved and her picture on the front.  It should be here in about two weeks.  We plan to keep it on our mantel so she's always with us.

Allie The White Boxer

Everyone needs to be friends with White Boxer Allie on Facebook

We recently bought a lifejacket for our princess Allie.  She would circle the pool wanting to get in with the boys so we tried it one day.   Well....needless to say, she loved it!!!

Summertime, Summertime...Sum, Sum, Summertime

The other day, out of the blue, Small Fry came into the room and told me he found a special rock for me.  He was so excited about his find and this is what he put into my hand:
A special heart shaped rock.  I now proudly carry it in my purse everywhere I go. He told me it's going to help me remember that he loves me every second of the day.  Guess its a good thing that he has time to play outside in the summer. He comes up with the cutest finds.
That kid....he can say the sweetest things and just make me melt!

Another thing that makes me melt is a pretty picture of my puppy dog.  My sweet friend Nancy gave Mr. H an adorable picture frame when he graduated with his Master's Degree.  She knew that something showcasing his "baby" Allie would be the best gift ever!

When I spend quiet evenings looking at blogs, I love to save ideas about easy crafts to make for the house.  I saw a website about Modge Podge and found inspiration to make this cute frame for the living room.  It was super easy with some black-and-white toile scrapbook paper and Modge Podge.  I just bought an inexpensive wooden frame and Modge Podged (is that a verb?) the paper to the frame.  It turned out so cute!

I also found scrapbook paper to frame in this Pier One frame we received as a gift at our wedding.  I love the look of framed scrapbook paper. So easy and so simple.

This summer is a time for celebration.  I recently did something that I've never done in my entire life.  I actually bought a car brand-new and kept it long enough to pay it off.  I'm now officially debt-free.  No car payment.  It's an amazing feeling!  I have to say that my Jeep Cherokee has been one of the best vehicles I've ever driven.  The only problem I've had is a dead battery and that's to be expected after a couple of years.  I really have no desire for a new car and think I'll keep my Jeep for quite a while.  I had to take a celebratory pic on the way home today!

I also found my Barry Manilow Greatest Hits CD-oh heaven!
The boys and I were bored the other night and decoupaged the lazy susan server in our kitchen.  We used striped scrapbook paper in the same colors as the kitchen. Plus, it matches the frame hanging in the kitchen. The boys liked brushing the Modge Podge and getting their hands messy placing the pieces of paper on the server.  I just let them put the pieces where they wanted to and didn't worry about it being perfect.  I think it turned out terrific!
I stopped into Dollar General to get some Diet Coke for the office yesterday and look at this cute purse I found. It was $5 and I don't mind that it's pleather....it's a fun purse!

Boxer puppies

My brother-in-law has the sweetest Boxer named Bella and she had 7 adorable puppies.  Two males and five girls.  Everyone of them are so cute with beautiful markings.  Bella is such a good momma and she takes great care of her babies.
Cleaning her baby off
What a perfect Boxer!
Nothing sweeter than a Momma and her baby

We won't be getting any of the Boxers though, because this Boxer thinks she is the Queen Bee and has a slight jealousy problem.  When we love on her sister Baylee the Beagle, she thinks she needs to "talk" to us and let us know she doesn't like it!  Silly spoiled White Boxer!

White Boxer Allie loves the wind in her hair

Our precious puppy Allie loves to go on car rides.  When I pull into the garage everyday, she comes out with the kids to greet me and jumps onto my lap trying to get in for a ride.
She's kind of spoiled....just like we like her!

A relaxing Saturday

Today the boys were at their Daddy's house which meant I was able to sleep in this morning. I actually was so worried about baby Harper (see post below) that I woke up at 5:30 am and checked the internet for an update. I stayed up looking at blogs until about 7:15 and then went back to bed with Allie. She likes to sleep in bed under the covers with me. I didn't mind - it was a cold morning. I know that probably shocks the "clean freaks" in the world, but, yes - I sleep with my boxer in bed. Dog hair and all. And, it doesn't even bother me because I love her that much. Ha!

After I leisurely drank my morning coffee, which I have to have every morning, I watched the Food Network. It doesn't get any better than that. My perfect morning. I started watching the Food Network when I became a stay-at-home mom with T-man in 1999. It was my company during long days at home with a sleeping baby. I'm now a Food Network addict and I'm not afraid to admit it. I love each and every one of the shows. The Cooking for Real one kind of bugs me though. She's trying too hard. But give me Paula Deen, Giada De Laurentiis, Ina Garten and Tyler Florence all day long. Tyler is one of my favorites - can he get any cuter?!

At about 1pm, I went and picked up my friend Jennifer and we ventured to the big city to go eat at Los Cabos. Yummy! I ate tortilla chips with the salsa. First carbs I've had in about 8 days. For the record, I felt horrible after eating all those carbs. I've actually lost about 6 pounds since starting the South Beach Diet - it has made me feel so much better. After lunch, we ventured around the shopping center and looked in a few shops. Then we drove around town and looked at all of the huge houses they are building in that area. I don't think the housing market has really hit Oklahoma. It's not stopping anyone from building as far as I can see.

It was fun to just get out and do something. Oh - I did go to Target and buy a new camera. I can't believe it. I've used the same Cannon for 5 years now. My new Olympus is so slim I can carry it in my pocket. I hope the picture quality is good. I'm actually reading the instructions. That's a miracle in itself.

H-man had his Cub Scouts Pinewood Derby this morning in town. His Daddy and T-man helped him make his little car until midnight the night before. H-man got 2nd and 4th in the race. He was so proud. They said next year they're gonna start working on the car in October. I believe they will too! Their Dad likes to build any kind of car. I'm glad he got to share that with them. I know they all enjoyed it!

I just checked Kelly's blog for an update on Harper and she arrived in Tulsa and is doing well. She didn't even need to have the heart/lung bypass that was originally planned. God is certainly listening to the thousands of prayers for that sweet baby girl. I know I've been worried and concerned all day. I'm thinking I'll drop something off at St. Francis Monday during my lunch hour. Maybe a basket with goodies for the family while they are staying with her.

Mr. Hautemama and I are getting ready to go to my beloved Sonic to get ice cream (for him, not me). I might get a Diet Cherry Limeade! Yum!

MySpace

I created a MySpace page for my diva dog Allie...... myspace/whiteboxerallie.com. That way she can become MySpace friends with other white boxers. The white boxer community is a tight knit community. We white boxer owners think our dogs are the most beautiful. They even have a White Boxer Rescue in states all over the US.

If you are looking for the most patient, caring, lovable dog in the world, then a white boxer is your dog. Allie has more personality in her little paw than any other animal I have ever had. She does get jealous when I give our Beagle attention though. She does a strange whiny sound and tries to bump up against me. I'm going to videotape it and put it on here someday. Funniest thing ever!
